State-Dependent Learning

Confession: I nerd out over all things brain 🧠I think the brain is so incredibly interesting 🤓 .
.
Did you know research shows that recall of information is significantly improved if it takes place in the SAME environment where it was initially learned?? ...it’s called state-dependent learning!
Wait what?
Who cares!
This shows us that we, or kids, are more likely to remember something if we learned it in the same place! So if I want a child to remember some new vocabulary about say, food or cooking... would I take them into their bedroom and show them some flash cards with different fruits and veggies on them? No! I would teach them in the kitchen! Where they will most likely need to recall those words in the future.
Not to mention if you use the real thing 🍉 you get to touch, hear, taste, and smell it too! ✋🏻👂🏻👅👃🏻Multi-sensory means building stronger pathways in the brain 💪🏻 Hope you can find a way to use this interesting factoid! Get teaching & talking in the natural environment 👍🏻
